Learning to use materials fully and creatively is one of the greatest gifts artistic life has given me. This creative practice allows me to be self-sufficient, resilient and flexible. As I've discussed in previous blogs, Joel and I have always been very DIY - our sets, our equipment, our costuming - we tend to do it all. Repurposing materials that are under-used satisfies my native New Englander “use what you have” sensibilities, while prioritizing investing funds for projects and equipment we cannot make or build ourselves.
