Ground and Air Jam is a long time Thrive class favorite, but if you aren't a parent to a little one, you might not know what it’s all about. Ground + Air Jam is a combo class featuring classic circus skills. It includes silks, trapeze and lyra rotations during the air portion of class, as well as ground skill favorites like juggling scarves and balls, flower sticks, spinning plates, Chinese yo-yos, acrobatics and unicycles. In a world where we often have to choose, Ground and Air Jam lets you do it all.
Ground and Air Jam is a play-first exploration of circus arts. It involves elements of climbing and tumbling and engages both large and small locomotor movements. The aerial part of class allows kids to build strength, flexibility and coordination, while the juggling and ground work offers opportunities for hand-eye coordination and focus. The best part is the class MOVES! The class material is student-directed, allowing kids to explore, play and learn at their own pace and offering the space to move their bodies, swing, toss and be upside down.
We are jazzed to expand Ground and Air Jam to two sections this fall; a section for 5-8 years old and a section for students ages 9-12. Ground + Air Jam is a perfect fit for students who are excited to learn, but aren’t sure what to pick or students who simply want a well-rounded circus class. Ground and Air Jam is also a great stepping stone for our Thrive Youth Circus Troupe, which combines both ground and aerial circus performance.
