Classes build physical, artistic, and social skills. Working independently, in partners, and as a group, students learn basic Capoeira movements, and how to “play” Capoeira. Students use the movements in improvisational games with each other. Classes have a single monthly fee and students can attend all both or 1 weekly class. Instruction covers physical elements of the arts including acrobatic and dynamic movement, self-defense, and improvisation and performance concepts. Youth learn historical and cultural information, receive hands-on training on instruments, and learn songs in Portuguese.
Homeschool Circus . 5 & up A fantastic homeschool P.E. class! Spend the morning practicing all things circus: acrobatics, mini trampoline, unicycle, all things juggling- Chinese yo-yo, devil stick, spinning plates- as well and unicycle and aerial arts- trapeze, lyra and fabric. Students will build co-ordination, confidence and strength and have lots or creative input in designing a show! -In fall and spring, much of the class happens outside.
**date change** 3/5. Lyra Workshop 1: Finding The Center- Advanced Beginner w Mykelle Walton.. 14 & up or Serious student. This workshop will go beyond the beginning poses of hoop and transition into thinking about how we balance our bodies within the hoop itself. We will be introduced to concepts such as falling to rise, centre of mass, and finding balance in kinesthetic ways. Exploration of twisty combinations is an option in this workshop. Prerequisites: To be able to use a double knee hang to enter the hoop.
**date change**3/5. Lyra Workshop 3: Spinning- All Levels w Mykelle Walton. . 14 & up or serious student. One of the most important factors in spinning aerial is how to control it. In this workshop learn different types of spins and how to center your spin in yourself and with your apparatus. We will go through the flair progression and different ways to start and control your spin, and get a detailed look at using spin to start lifting your body into the air with flairs. Prerequisites: Ability to spin for 30 second continuously, or willingness to push through uncomfortable dizziness (within reason)
**Youth Intro/100 Fabric, Trapeze and Lyra** class is full. 9 & up An introductory class where students will explore aerial apparatus while staying closer to the ground. We will work on building body awareness, strength aerial vocabulary on silks, sling, lyra and trapeze
Adult Intro/100 Fabric, Trapeze and Lyra . 14 & up For people new to aerial arts looking for artistic expression, a new fitness tool or fun. We will build aerial vocabulary on silks and bar apparatus, safe skill progression and a solid foundation.
Adult level 300 Aerial Mixed Aerial . Adult level 3 Aerial Fabric and Trapeze. with Heidi For adult students up who have taken several sessions of classes, can climb and put on foot knots in the air and have completed level 1 & 2 skills. We will continue to build strength and skill repertoire and do drops
Adult level 350 mixed aerial. 14 & up This class is for students who have taken at least 2 years of classes, can climb and put on foot knots in the air easily and can invert in the air. We will do drops and extended sequencing
Aerial Intensive. 9 & up Aerial Intensive- August 7-18 2 coaches will lead daily classes in aerial fabric, trapeze, lyra and sling. Students will try all the things and select their favorite apparatus to delve deeper into. We will also work on ground skills that improve aerial work and and ground skills: acrobatics and partner acro, flexibility, dance and stage presence and act creation. New acts will debut in an outdoor show! 9-12pm, M-F ages 9&up. $500 Show @ 6pm on the 18th. Rain date Aug 19 at noon Coaches: Becca DeAngelis and Erin Mahoney
Contortion Workshop 1: Beginner w Artemisa Omani 3/26 . 12 & up or serious student In this class we will find out how to have our bodies do crazy things in a safe way. We will be learning exercises to build flexibility, strength and control, so we can achieve the bendy skills of your dreams! We will primarily be working on back bending and leg flexibility.
Contortion Workshop 2: Intermediate/ Advanced w Artemisa Omani. 3/26. 12 & up or serious student In this class we will be working on learning more advanced contortion and flexibility skills in a way that is safe for the body. We will work on building strength and flexibility for things such as bridge variations, chest stands, forearm stands, handstands and various other contortion skills. Recommended for students with some previous experience with flexibility training.
Ground and Air Camp. 6&up Ground and Air Circus camp! M-F, 9-1. 4 expert coaches fill the day with all things circus- Stilt walking, juggling, tumbling, visual art, unicycling & rolling globe, trapeze, silks, sling, lyra. Everyone tries all disciplines then picks their favorites to performs in a spectacular outdoor show! Performance- @ at 6 pm- Rain date Saturday @ 10:30. $550.Youth age 6 & up. Ground and Air Jam. 5 & up Students will have the opportunity to do all things circus! . Kids will cycle through stations, work on ground skills like juggling, Chinese yo-yo, acrobatics, Aerial skills, sling, lyra and trapeze.
Open studio- $10 drop in. Age 12 & up. Level 1& up Open Studio is a self-directed training time for current Thrive students who have taken classes in aerial fabric, trapeze, lyra or sling. Students should only work on skills they have covered in class and can execute safely without a spotter or coaching. Open studio is not a time to practice new skills and absolutely no teaching allowed. Students are also welcome to stretch and condition. Exploring the ways in which the same skills and pathways can be performed on both when applying techniques that account for their shape. We will find timing, wraps, walk-downs, and a few skills which don’t quite translate and the reasons behind that.
Prerequisites: Student must be able to sit up and stand up on a trapeze and sling without assistance. Willingness to try and an open mind.

Youth Level 2 mixed aerial. 9 & up For students who can climb put on foot knots in the air, do pull overs on bar apparatus and feel pretty comfortable moving around apparatus. At this level we'll work on more complex fabric sequencing, inverting in the air and may start on drops .
Youth level 3 troupe class . 9 & up For students who have taken at least 2 years of classes and can easily do pullovers and are comfortable standing on the bar and can invert in the air.
Cirque-opsia- A large-scale teen circus production. In this production-focused class teens will explore the theme of the macro: where tiny things appear huge. Participants will work with 3 coaches to develop ground circus skills in Acrobatics/Partner Acro, Mini trampoline, Stilt walking and dance. The production team will create bespoke, elaborate costumes, giant stilt walking creatures to bring to life this magical world created during this 8 week class. This program is designed to connect teens from different towns and diverse backgrounds in the the co-creation of an original circus production. In an inclusive space safe for identity exploration and creative expression, students will find community and support for building on personal passions, unique skills, characters and a cohesive ensemble While any skill level is welcome, students who have other ground circus skills (such as unicycling, contortion or hula hoop) are encouraged to bring these skills to our production. Families and friends will be invited to attend an outdoor evening performance on June 3. Cost is $360 and need based scholarships are available.
